I wanted the idea for my final video to go along the lines of a dysfunctional world. The natural world around us is a lot more dysfunctional than the people in it and I wanted to show this through my videos. I was inspired by volcanos and their eruptions and through the making of the eruption I darkened the video and made it look to have more chaos in it that originally filmed. I decided on the name of 'Chaos and Disorder' because I felt that it portrayed the the ideas of destruction a natural disaster could cause.

While still editing my final video of the volcano I used a few more effects on making it and darkened it further trying to show a contrast between the darker parts and lighten the colours of the lava. I also added an effect to show lightening. I thought that this would make the volcano eruption look more effective as there are thunder and lightening within a volcanic eruption.

Once I had edited the clips together I then changed the colours so it was a lot darker and added a rain effect so that it looked like a storm. I found it very hard to find a rain effect to overlay onto the video, so I ended up using a heavy snow effect and overlaying it twice slightly off from each other so that it would look more like rain and less like snow.

Once I had finished recording the explosion of the volcano, the next step was to cut the best parts of the eruption and edit it all together. This is the final cut of my edited video before I add any effects or any colour changing to the video.

Texture Experimenting

This version of experimentation looks more like a rock, I used a different colour to create a rockish shade. To do this I used one of my own photo's as a base colour and used bumps to add effect on the colour. I then used displacement to change the shape of the sphere, I feel that the choice of shape figure is extremely interesting and looks more effective and rock like. The colours and tones of the sphere really make it look realistic.

Texture Experimenting

Still using Cinema 4D, I tried to create more effects using different texture techniques. I feel that by doing this I am getting a better idea with how my volcano can look and using a better technique for this will help me develop my understanding of how I can create certain textures. I like how the spikes come out and give a darker feeling with the shape.

I altered the texture of the volcano again and placed it in a different angle to make it look far more interesting.

Texture Sphere

So I decided to look more into C4D and what I could create out of it. I decided that it would be a good idea to experiment with different textures I could put on the shape to see what textures would be most effective for a volcano. I like how this technique deforms the shape and create an effective bumpy edge to it.

To look into another way I could create a volcano I decided to experiment with Cinema 4D. Here you can see the development of my work as I progress in trying to create an effective shape for a volcano.

In the final image of the volcano I used a colour texture to try and make the volcano look more realistic. By doing this I was able to get an idea of what colours I could use for my own made volcano I'm doing using play-dough to make it look better when I get around to filming it.
